Ielts Test

Ielts stands for International English Language Test System, it is published by Cambridge. Most of international students should take Ielts test before they came into high education. As a systematic test, it is divided into 4 parts-listening, reading, speaking and writing. Sounds interesting? Yeah, it is. I think it is more useful test that I make the candidate improve all English-applications abilities.

I will take Ielts on 27th May this year, only 3 weeks beyond. I am really a little worried about it because I didn't pay much attention to it, it comes to me so quick that only 3 weeks remained. However, I am confident to get a good mark because I have learnt English for a long time even though I still can't master it naturally. Ielts Reading
It is easy to read article with dictionaries, but when I read academic article, it is really hard to understand sometimes. There are too much words I can't understand, even though I use dictionaries, I can't understand the whole meaning neither. There are millions of articles written in English. Thanks to the internet, it is much more easily get an English article than before. On BBC, we can find different categories on sports, news, business, entertainment, science and culture. It is one of the biggest information-resource I think.

Ielts Writing
To improve writing ability, I write at least one passage every day-- either diary or academic essay. Of course, I can write them in website, this blog provides a good place to put my writings on it, thanks.Like speaking, after we absorb English from listening and reading, we should output them frequently. Practice them again and again, and record them, then we will find out what problem is still remained.In Ielts writting test, it divided into two parts. One is a graph illustration in Academy or a letter in General, the other one is a discuss about one topic. The following one is more difficult, the candidates are not only focus on grammars and structures of sentences, but also should care about their opinions on the topic.

Ielts Listening
Before communicate with English-Speaking people, we should listen to them to get what they mean first. So listening is significant to every learner. Due to different communicated situations, we hear different English words. Not only listen to English programs regurally, but also should master many new vocabularies of course.Living in Edinburgh, I can listen to BBC and other radio programs every day, BBC 4 is the best listening materials to me because it is a program of Intelligent Speech. Every day, I spend some extent time on listening them carefully. Unfortunatelly, I find I was down these days. My teacher said it is common, learning a new language is always fluctuating, sometime is up, sometime is down, and is up in general. Thanks to her encourage.

Ielts Speaking
Speaking is the most difficult to me. Although I have been Edinburgh for several months, I can not master it easily. Before I say out some uncommon sentence in English, I should organize them in my mind but always speak with some mistakes. The worse thing is that people who I spoke to can not understand it, what a big irony to me. I need practice more. The best way is to contact local people as often as possible; the church is a good place to meet people I think.After my teacher's advice, the problems focus on pronunciation. She told me speak it more slowly but more clearly, and guided me to pronounce correct syllabus. It is a long and hard way I should go. God bless me.

Cities Comparison--feeling

I have been Edinburgh for about 4 months. Honest speaking, it is a really beautiful city and quite different from any other cities in China.

Now China boosts its economy rapidly, most of the traditional buildings are threaded by the modern construction. More and more cities in eastern China become modern cities, but gradually lose their architecture style that most of them were design in the same way. Different with China, the UK preserve it traditional building for a long time, so the buildings I see in Edinburgh in general are more ancient than in China. I remember when I came to Edinburgh at the first time, I was really astonish that all the buildings here looks very ancient and mysterious, the church looks fabulous that I only see it in cartoon. The color on the building is slightly green and black, the top of building is sharp, and there is still a big clock on the top. Fantastic, I gradually like it.
